In Phoenix, three types of concrete buildings showed cost savings of more than 5% in heating and cooling costs compared to the baseline building: pre-cast concrete exceeding code with either structural steel framing (5/2%) or with reinforced concrete structural system, floors, and interior walls (very high mass) (8.6%), and very high mass buildings with internal loads clustered near the central core of the building (7.8%).
